India's Strong Lineup Gears Up for Women's T20 World Cup 2026
The BCCI has announced a strong 15-member squad for the Women's T20 World Cup 2026, with matches in England set to acclimatize the team. Buoyed by last year's World Cup success, captain Harmanpreet Kaur and her team aim for victory, kicking off their campaign against Pakistan on June 14.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled a formidable 15-member squad for the Women's T20 World Cup 2026. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia voiced optimism regarding the selected team, highlighting their readiness and potential for success. The team will play matches in England beforehand, aiding their acclimatization to the conditions.
Fresh on the heels of their triumph in the 50-over World Cup, the Indian women's cricket team is aiming for further glory as they prepare for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, commencing on June 12. Saikia believes that last year's victory has instilled a winning mentality within the team, a crucial factor as they aim to claim the T20 title.
India is set to launch their campaign against Pakistan on June 14. Part of Group A, they will face strong competition from teams like Australia and South Africa. Preparations will continue with a T20I series against England starting May 28. Key players like Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana lead a well-balanced squad, albeit with some absentees due to injury such as Kashvee Gautam and Amanjot Kaur.
