Indian Relays Falter: A Missed Finals Oppurtunity

On the opening day of the World Athletics Relays, no Indian quartet succeeded in securing a spot for the 2027 World Championships finals. Despite valiant efforts, they will have to compete in additional rounds for another chance at qualification.

The men's 4x400m team, comprising Dharmveer Choudhary, Rajesh Ramesh, Vishal TK, and Manu TS, delivered a commendable performance, finishing fourth in their heat with a time of 3 minutes and 0.32 seconds. They finished behind Belgium, Qatar, and Spain. The top two from each heat, along with the next two fastest teams, secured spots for day two finals.

The mixed 4x100m team did not finish due to a baton mishap, while the mixed 4x400m and the women's 4x100m teams performed adequately but failed to secure finals positions. The men's 4x100m team also ended poorly, placing last in their heat. More rounds on Sunday offer a final shot at the 2027 qualification.
