Indian cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues highlighted the team's motivation as they gear up for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, inspired by their historic win in last year's 50-over tournament.

Speaking at the IISM Degree Distribution Ceremony 2026, Rodrigues, alongside head coach Amol Muzumdar, expressed an eager desire to build on their recent success. "I think it's a bit of motivation now. Since we've won one, we want to win two," she stated, according to the ICC.

The team has been preparing steadily, with Muzumdar emphasizing the importance of starting early, as noted in their series against Sri Lanka immediately following the 2025 World Cup. "Our preparation has been strong from day one," Rodrigues noted, also praising standout player Nandani, who has emerged as a pivotal figure.

Despite the setback of losing key all-rounder Amanjot due to injury, which head coach Muzumdar called a "big blow," the team's confidence remains robust. "We will miss her, but injuries are part of the game," he acknowledged, expressing hope for her recovery.

As they prepare to face off against formidable opponents in Group A, the Indian squad is focused on showcasing their potential under Muzumdar's leadership, with rising stars like Nandani fueling aspirations for even greater international success.
