Revamping Punjab's Sports Landscape to Combat Drug Menace
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced the state's initiative to revolutionise its sports ecosystem to redirect youth from drugs to sports. Launching 250 rural sports grounds, the effort aims to leverage sports as a potent tool in the fight against drug addiction and ensure socio-economic development alongside youth engagement.

The government of Punjab, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is making significant strides to change the state's sports landscape, with an emphasis on curbing drug abuse among youth.
Addressing a gathering while launching 250 'Pendu Khed Maidans' or rural sports grounds, Mann highlighted the importance of sports culture as a powerful strategy in the state's anti-drug campaign. He emphasized that promoting sports will effectively channel the energy of young people, keeping them away from drugs.
In a bid to support and invigorate youthful potential, the Punjab government plans to set up a total of 3,100 sports grounds, brimming with modern facilities, across the state. These efforts align with the wider 'Yudh Nashean Virudh' campaign and further aim to inspire youth to aim for excellence in sports at national and international platforms.
