Vinesh Phogat Faces Scrutiny for Missed Doping Test
Wrestler Vinesh Phogat has been notified for her first failed whereabouts test, dating back to December 18, 2025, by the International Testing Agency (ITA). The notice is a warning and not a violation. Compliance issues arose as Vinesh was attending the Haryana Assembly, missing her testing slot.
Renowned wrestler Vinesh Phogat has been issued a formal notice for missing an out-of-competition doping test, marking her first whereabouts failure in a year. The notification came from the International Testing Agency (ITA), following an incident on December 18, 2025.
The ITA stated that a Doping Control Officer was unable to locate Vinesh during her designated one-hour testing window, due to her attendance at the Haryana Assembly's winter session, as well as personal commitments following the birth of her child. Despite her cooperation and explanation, the ITA emphasized the need for timely updates to her whereabouts information.
This issue arises as Vinesh prepares her comeback to competitive wrestling, having announced her return in December 2025 after a brief retirement. The oversight could impact her participation in upcoming events, necessitating vigilance in adherence to anti-doping protocols.
