In a resolute declaration, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has affirmed the ongoing suspension of bilateral sporting ties between India and Pakistan, while clarifying that athletes from both nations will continue to compete in international multilateral events, including those on Indian soil.

The official memorandum released on Wednesday emphasized that India's engagement in sports with Pakistan aligns with its overarching diplomatic strategy. The government unambiguously opposed resuming direct sporting contests, articulating a steadfast stance against India-Pakistan bilateral rivalry on sports grounds.

However, the ministry made a clear distinction between direct bilateral clashes and international competitions under global regulations, ensuring that athletes can partake in multinational events without discrimination. Additionally, the circular outlined measures to make India a preferred hub for international sports, including the simplification of visa procedures for officials of international sports bodies.
