Vinesh Phogat's attempt to return to wrestling was blocked by the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) amid allegations of a conspiracy against her. Phogat, a prominent Indian wrestler, described the rejection of her entry into the National Open Ranking tournament as an orchestrated effort to halt her comeback.

Phogat, who arrived at the venue prepared to compete, was informed of her ineligibility until June 26, 2026, due to purported anti-doping rule violations. She argues that she adhered to all regulations and tested clean for doping, asserting her right to compete. The conflict erupted after she received a show-cause notice, coinciding inconveniently with legal and competitive deadlines.

The WFI maintained that disciplinary proceedings must be completed, allowing her to submit a formal response. Phogat, meanwhile, expressed frustration over restricted access to training facilities, further complicating her preparations, but resolved to continue fighting for her competitive rights.
