In a dramatic turn of events, the Delhi High Court has struck down the suspension of Kamlesh Mehta, reinstating him as the secretary general of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI). The decision comes amid allegations of internal strife and governance irregularities within the federation.
Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav appointed retired Supreme Court Justice Krishna Murari to lead an enquiry into the federation’s operations and the conduct of its officials. This move aims to address claims of internal power struggles and alleged procedural breaches.
Kamlesh Mehta’s suspension had initially been justified by the TTFI as necessary due to financial and governance concerns. However, the court found procedural lapses in the suspension process, prompting a legally mandated enquiry to uphold principles of fairness and justice.
