In a significant development, wrestler Vinesh Phogat has sought clarification regarding her eligibility to participate in competitions, following assertions that both the International Testing Agency (ITA) and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) had cleared her to compete as of January 1, 2026.
The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), however, has declared Phogat ineligible due to WADA's Rule 5.6.1 concerning retired athletes returning to the sport.
