Modern Pythian Games Gain Momentum in Australia

In a step toward strengthening international cultural ties, Bijender Goel, Founder of the Modern Pythian Games, engaged in discussions with Australian cultural officials, considering potential collaboration with Australia in the growing movement of these games. A meeting with Joanna Vaughan, Adviser, Department of Arts, Government of Australia, and Bryna Bamberry, Director - International, Ministry of Arts Australia, explored the prospect of opening a regional office in Melbourne for Asia-Pacific representation and hosting the inaugural Pythian Games in Australia by 2027, as per a press release.
The Australian delegation’s positive reception of the Modern Pythian Games' vision led to an invitation for a formal proposal, aligning with Australia's cultural policy. The proposal, to be submitted by Goel, aims to seek governmental support for fostering arts, culture, and diplomatic exchange. Goel underscored the importance of ongoing cooperation in promoting cultural diplomacy through this international platform.
During his Melbourne visit, Goel also conferred with Ashish Ranjan, Consul General of India, to discuss the expanded interest in Australia for the Pythian initiative. This meeting underscored the games' potential role in bolstering cultural ties between India and Australia. The Consul General expressed commitment to supporting future engagements and outlined a collaborative approach with the Australian government.
This development signifies an opportunity to enhance India-Australia cultural relations through the Modern Pythian Games platform, fostering global participation, and cultural diplomacy.
