The Udaan U-20 Border Girls Football Championship 2026 was launched with much fanfare at the scenic Bhooteachang Tea Estate football ground in Udalguri, Assam. This special initiative is designed to foster women's empowerment, promote sports development, and nurture the talents of young female footballers from border areas, tea estates, and disadvantaged regions.

The opening ceremony was graced by distinguished figures including Joy Bikash, Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri, as the Chief Guest, and Col Vivek Sharma, Deputy Commander of the Red Horns Artillery Brigade, as the Guest of Honour. They were joined by other notable military and police officials, reflecting broad support for the cause.

The event kicked off with traditional performances and cultural displays, followed by the formal inauguration by Col Sharma and a symbolic football kick-off by Deputy Commissioner Bikash. The tournament commenced with the Bamunjuli Team defeating the Hatigarh Team 5-2, showcasing exceptional talent and resilience from the young players.
