Paul Magnier of France secured his third victory at the 2023 Giro d'Italia as he stormed to win a riveting sprint finish in stage 18 on Thursday. The Soudal Quick-Step rider, aged 22, benefited from an impeccable setup by teammate Jasper Stuyven in the high-speed turns leading to the finish line. He edged out two Italian sprinters in a powerful dash to victory.

Edoardo Zambanini from Bahrain Victorious claimed second place, while Jonatham Milan of Lidl-Trek finished third. Magnier's triumph, following wins in the first and third stages in Bulgaria, now positions him as the points classification leader, enhancing his dominance in the race.

Meanwhile, overall race leader Jonas Vingegaard launched an attack during the steep final climb of the day's 10km stretch but opted to finish within the main pack, maintaining his substantial lead in the overall standings.
