Union Minister's Shillong Visit: Boosting Youth and Sports Initiatives
Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will visit Shillong for three days to engage in youth and sports initiatives, inaugurate a new sports complex, and review schemes. The visit aims to bolster sports infrastructure and prepare for the 39th National Games 2027, reaffirming support for Meghalaya's development.
Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya is set to embark on a significant three-day visit to Shillong, Meghalaya, from May 29 to May 31. The visit underscores the government's commitment to advancing youth affairs and sports infrastructure across the state. Mandaviya's agenda includes participation in several programs focusing on these key areas, as well as a review of centrally sponsored schemes.
Highlighting the visit, Mandaviya, alongside Meghalaya's Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, will inaugurate the Integrated Multipurpose Indoor Sports Complex on May 30. This cutting-edge facility, developed at a cost of Rs 132.9 crore, is poised to host a variety of sports like basketball, badminton, and volleyball, serving as a potential venue for the 2027 National Games.
In addition, a pivotal Host State Contract for the 39th National Games 2027 will be executed, marking Meghalaya's preparation for the event. Mandaviya will also head a review meeting on the Games, and inspect sports facilities in the Umsawli Sports Complex. His discussions will extend to senior officials on implementing central schemes in Ri-Bhoi district, reinforcing support for regional youth and sports development.
