The Odisha government celebrated the remarkable achievements of Payal Nag, a para archer from the state, who excelled at the World Para Archery Series 2026 in Bangkok. She not only secured two gold medals but also gained qualification for the Para Asian Games.
In honor of her outstanding feats, the government awarded her a financial package totaling Rs 5,46666 lakh for her successes, along with an additional Rs 3,23100 lakh to aid in the procurement of advanced sports equipment. This ceremony, attended by sports minister Suryabansi Suraj and other department officials, highlighted the state's commitment to supporting para athletes.
Sports minister Suraj expressed his admiration for Payal, stating that her triumphs on the global stage serve as a source of pride for both Odisha and India. He noted that her dedication and achievements highlight the increasing prominence of para sports within the region.
