Johan Vazquez's decisive first-half header brought Mexico a 1-0 win against Australia in a pre-World Cup friendly on Saturday night. The victory, achieved in the 27th minute with a corner by Alexis Vega, sends Mexico into the World Cup on a high note.

This result extends Mexico's unbeaten run to seven matches this year. Their last loss was to Paraguay on November 18 in a friendly. Mexico's World Cup campaign begins against South Africa on June 11 at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, followed by matches against South Korea and Czechia.

For Australia, their opening World Cup game is against Turkey on June 13 in Vancouver. They will then play the United States in Seattle and finish against Paraguay in Santa Clara. Before that, they have a final preparation game against Switzerland on June 6 in San Diego.
