Atalanta have dismissed coach Raffaele Palladino following his brief tenure of 39 matches. Despite a notable seventh-place finish last season, Palladino struggled to replicate the success of his predecessor, leading to early Champions League elimination. Maurizio Sarri is tipped as the top contender for the position.

Atalanta has terminated their association with coach Raffaele Palladino after a short-lived stint, according to a statement by the Serie A club on Tuesday.

Palladino, appointed last November, managed 39 matches and guided Atalanta to a commendable seventh-place finish despite a rough start to the season. However, the 42-year-old was unable to achieve the same success as former manager Gian Piero Gasperini.

Their Champions League campaign was cut short in the round of 16, with a significant 10-2 aggregate defeat against Bayern Munich. Reports suggest former Lazio, Juventus, and Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is the leading candidate to fill the vacancy, having amicably parted ways with Lazio.
