JDT's Unbeaten 109-Match Streak Breaks World Record
Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) set a new world record by remaining unbeaten for 109 consecutive league matches. The Malaysian club achieved this milestone by defeating Kuching City 3-0. JDT has sustained this unbeaten run since April 2021. The club aims to extend its record further this season.
Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) has made history by setting a world record of 109 consecutive league matches unbeaten. The record was achieved following their 3-0 victory over Kuching City, during the Charity Shield on Friday.
The impressive triumph, showcased at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, saw goals from Marcos Guilherme in the 11th minute, followed by scores from Oscar Arribas and Shahab Zahedi in the second half. This victory allowed JDT to surpass the previous record of 108 games, held by Ivory Coast's ASEC Mimosas from 1989 to 1994.
Having been unbeaten since April 2021, the Southern Tigers have sustained this momentum through four Malaysian Super League campaigns. JDT's Spanish coach Xisco Munoz expressed pride in this achievement, as the club eyes extending their unbeaten streak with upcoming matches. CEO Luis Garcia highlighted the challenges of maintaining such a record.
