Free agent wide receiver Breshad Perriman was set to sign a one-year deal with the Cleveland Browns, but backed out after they agreed to a trade for Odell Beckham Jr., according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Instead, Perriman will reportedly sign a one-year, $4 million deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
A first-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens in 2015, Perriman has struggled to make an impact in the NFL. He made just four starts in 27 appearances over three seasons in Baltimore, then signed with the Washington Redskins as a free agent in 2018 only to be released days later. He latched on with the injury-depleted Browns last season and had 16 catches for 340 yards and two touchdowns.
According to reports, the addition of Beckham concerned Perriman, who is hoping to have a breakout season that will let him earn a larger contract next offseason. The Buccaneers lost receivers DeSean Jackson and Adam Humphries this offseason.
