Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia exited Boston's Wednesday road game against the New York Yankees following the top of the second inning due to left knee discomfort. Pedroia, who flied out to right field in his second-inning at-bat, was replaced by Eduardo Nunez at second base.

Last season, Pedroia appeared in three games while missing most of the season due to left knee inflammation. He also underwent surgery on his left knee for a complete cartilage restoration after appearing in 105 games in 2017. The 35-year-old four-time All-Star and 2008 American League MVP was activated from the injured list last week following a short rehab assignment. He is 2-for-20 in six games this season.
