Yankees activate RHP German from IL to face Mets

The New York Yankees activated Domingo German from the injured list in advance of Wednesday's game against the New York Mets and optioned left-hander Stephen Tarpley to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. German will start Wednesday in the finale of the brief two-game interleague series. The 26-year old, who has been out since June 7 with a left hip flexor strain, is 9-2 in 13 games (12 starts) with a 3.86 ERA.

Prior to his June 7 start against the Cleveland Indians, when he gave up four runs on six hits over six innings while taking the loss, he was 6-0 over his previous eight outings. Tarpley, 26, has made 11 appearances with the Yankees this season, posting a 9.64 ERA. He had his worst outing of the season Sunday against the Boston Red Sox at London, giving up four runs on three home runs in an inning of work.
