Phillies place RHP Nicasio on IL

The Philadelphia Phillies placed right-hander Juan Nicasio on the 10-day injured list on Thursday due to a left groin strain. Nicasio suffered the injury during Wednesday's contest against the Atlanta Braves.

Phillies manager Gabe Kapler said the groin strain is mild but that Nicasio is also being bothered by quadriceps tightness. Nicasio, 32, is 1-2 with a 5.24 ERA in 32 games, and he has allowed six runs over his last two appearances while recording just two outs.

Left-hander Austin Davis was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Davis, 26, has a 5.00 ERA in six relief appearances for the Phillies this season and is 1-2 with a 2.80 ERA in 23 appearances for Lehigh Valley.
