Rangers release RHP Miller

- United States
The Texas Rangers placed right-hander Shelby Miller on unconditional release waivers Thursday, although his time with the organization isn't necessarily over. According to MLB.com, the two sides have talked about a possible minor-league deal that would put Miller with Triple-A Nashville in a reliever role.
Miller was designated for assignment on Monday, a month and a half after he was demoted from the starting rotation to the bullpen. On the season, he is 1-3 with an 8.59 ERA in 19 appearances (eight starts). He last pitched on June 25, allowing two runs on a hit (a homer) and a walk in one inning of relief. Miller, 28, joined the Rangers on a one-year, $2 million deal as a free agent in January, after spending the previous three seasons with Arizona.
He is 38-56 with a 4.11 ERA in 150 career appearances (132 starts) with the Rangers, Diamondbacks, Atlanta Braves (2015) and St. Louis Cardinals (2012-14). --Field Level Media
