New York Yankees first baseman Luke Voit was hit in the face by a pitch on Saturday and cleared a concussion test after being removed from the game. It is possible Voit could be in the lineup on Sunday when the Yankees again host the Colorado Rockies.

Voit was hit on the chin by Rockies right-hander Chad Bettis in the fourth inning of New York's 11-5 victory. He initially stayed in the game but was pulled in the next inning. The only blemish was a cut on Voit's lip. "Obviously, that's scary right there, but it felt like he was even pretty good before we took him out," Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters after the game. "Then going through the tests, he was fine, and speaking to him right after, feel like he should be OK."

Voit wasn't available for comment after the game but his teammates said they were impressed that he initially stayed in the contest. "Just glad that it's not worse," infielder DJ LeMahieu told reporters. "It could have been really bad. It still clipped him pretty good, but thankfully ... it could've been a lot worse."

Voit, 28, is batting .275 with 18 homers and 52 RBIs in 86 games. --Field Level Media
