Sudan's annual inflation rate hit 52.59% in July, from 47.78% in June, state news agency SUNA said on Thursday. Inflation increased due to rising prices of food items such as meat, bread, and grains, SUNA reported.
In April, mass protests triggered by price increases and limits on cash withdrawals eventually led to the Sudanese military ousting longtime President Omar al Bashir. In October, the country sharply devalued its currency.
