New York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman's cancer is in remission, multiple outlets reported Wednesday.

Gettleman was diagnosed with lymphoma earlier this year and revealed the diagnosis on June 5. He has been undergoing chemotherapy.

Giants coach Pat Shurmur said he had Gettleman address the players on Wednesday in the first team meeting ahead of Thursday's opening of training camp.

"Dave's doing great, he was here and he's been doing his treatments," Shurmur told reporters. "That's a process that he's going through, but we communicate frequently. We've been in close touch all summer, I didn't do much traveling, so I was here in town and Dave and I communicated quite a bit, actually."

Gettleman was hired as general manager of the Giants in December.

He spent four seasons as general manager of the Carolina Panthers before being fired prior to the start of training camp last year. The Panthers went 15-1 in 2015 and lost to the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50.

Carolina was 40-23-1 during Gettleman's tenure.
