Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn and general manager Thomas Dimitroff have been signed to three-year contract extensions through the 2022 season, the team announced Wednesday.
Dimitroff, 52, is entering his 11th season with the Falcons and hired Quinn -- then defensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks -- in 2015 to replace Mike Smith in Atlanta.
Quinn, 47, has a 29-19 record in three regular seasons as coach of the Falcons. He previously helped the Seahawks to consecutive Super Bowls in 2013 and 2014.
"The partnership between Dan Quinn and Thomas Dimitroff has proven to be as successful as we envisioned back in 2015," Falcons owner Arthur Blank said in a statement. "I believe continuity in leadership is vital to achieving the highest levels of success in any organization and, with these extensions, we ensure these two leaders will be at the helm of our franchise for years to come. Their shared vision and long view plan has already delivered on a variety of levels and has positioned our team for success into the future.
"My expectations for our team to represent our city and fans well on and off the field remain very high and so does my confidence in Dan and Thomas to make that happen."
In Quinn's second season as head coach of the Falcons, Atlanta went to the Super Bowl but lost in heartbreaking fashion to the New England Patriots. New England rallied from a 28-3 third-quarter deficit to post a 34-28 overtime victory.
Quinn has a 3-2 postseason record with the club.
"I'd like to thank Arthur for displaying the confidence in Thomas and myself, and our vision for this team," Quinn said in a statement. "The partnership we have formed over the last four years has continued to get stronger, and our view for how we structure this team has become even more clear."
Dimitroff's first draft pick with the team was quarterback Matt Ryan, and he also orchestrated a trade to land wide receiver Julio Jones and drafted defensive end Vic Beasley.
Dimitroff, who helped with field maintenance and served as a ballboy with the Cleveland Browns, worked under Scott Pioli with the Patriots for six seasons before joining Atlanta in 2008.
"I couldn't ask for a better co-team builder to be partnered with than Dan," Dimitroff said in a statement. "I am appreciative of the support and confidence that Arthur continues to show us as we strive to bring a championship to this city and our fans. I am excited about where our team is currently as well as the outlook we have for the foreseeable future."
The extensions come at a time when Jones is refusing to report to training camp despite having three years left on a five-year, $71.25 million extension.
