NIT-Tiruchirapalli aims to create robust technical education eco-system

NIT-Tiruchirapalli, formerly Regional Engineering College, has set up 'centres of dynamic excellence' to train students, practising professionals and industries in order to create a robust technical education eco-system.

The centres were established at a cost of Rs 190 crore with energy, healthcare and infrastructure solutions provider Siemens as its technology partner, a press release said here Wednesday.

According to the director of the NIT-Tiruchy Mini Shaji Thomas, the centres have been envisaged to help students, practising professionals and industries achieve 'excellence in skills.'

The centres would be an addition to new multi- and inter-disciplinary laboratories and the first facility on the NIT campus is to be inaugurated by Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar later this week.

"Ninety per cent of the funds were received as a grant from Siemens and 10 per cent will be funded by NIT, Tiruchirapalli", the release said.
