Telegram is rolling out a new update that introduces a power saving mode to extend battery life along. The latest update also adds even more playback speed options, new animated emojis and much more.

The new power saving mode extends battery life and improves performance on older devices by allowing users to disable animations and lightweight effects. You can set the mode to turn on automatically when your battery reaches a certain percent, with individual toggles that let you disable specific effects.

To toggle Power Saving mode or tweak individual settings for autoplay, animations, and effects, go to Settings > Power Saving.

Next up, Telegram has added even more options to change the playback speed of videos, podcasts, voice and video messages. You can now choose any speed between 0.2x–2.5x - just hold the 2x button.

With this update, Telegram now shows read receipts in groups under 100 members, which means you can see the time when your messages were read by each person.

Further, Telegram now allows you to auto-send invite links as messages. Invite links also show previews in chats so that you can see where they lead at a glance.

Other changes and improvements in this update include:

  • Improved folder support: iOS users can mark all chats in a folder as read with one tap and quickly find the right chat while forwarding messages. Telegram's Android app will also get these improvements in one of the next updates.
  • Ten new packs of custom emojis for premium users.
  • New interactive emoji and reactions
