Google Chat now allows you to quote previous message in reply

Google has introduced a new feature that allows you to quote a previous message when sending a reply in a direct message, group message, or space (if configured with in-line threading).
The new feature will allow you to directly reference a previous message, ensuring that you don't lose the context of a Chat sent earlier in the message stream.
When you quote a previous message, the quote itself is a link that returns to the original message that was quoted.
"People may use message quoting when they want their response to show up in the main message stream, compared to in-line threading, where message responses are shown in a separate thread," Google wrote in a blog post.
To quote a previous message in your reply:
- On your computer, go to Google Chat or your Gmail account.
- Open a chat message.
- Hover over the message.
- From the available message actions, click Quote in reply.
- Enter your message or select a suggestion.
- You can customize a suggested message before you send it.
- Press Return or click Send
The gradual rollout of this feature has already started for Rapid Release domains and it may take up to 15 days for the feature to be fully visible. On the other hand, Scheduled Release domains will have to wait until May 18, 2023, to begin their gradual rollout.
The feature will be available to all Google Workspace customers, legacy G Suite Basic and Business customers as well as to users with personal Google Accounts.
