Malaysia would have hosted the 2026 Commonwealth Games if given more time to prepare, and had been realistic about costs and preparation time in deciding to reject an offer to stage the event, its government spokesperson said on Friday

Malaysia found the costs prohibitive and said the funding offered by the Games' governing body was insufficient, government spokesperson Fahmi Fadzil told a regular press conference.
