CapitaLand Investment (CLI) has unveiled its latest research publication on investment strategies for the Asia Pacific (APAC) data centre industry. This study, part of CLI's 'Perspectives' research series, delves into the rapid demand growth for data centres in the region and provides strategic considerations for potential investors.
Ms Michelle Lee, Managing Director of CLI's Private Funds (Data Centre), emphasized the impact of global digitalisation trends and noted that 97% of institutional investors are keen to expand their capital allocation in the sector, particularly in APAC. 'Data centres, given their resilience, are becoming a cornerstone of portfolio diversification,' Lee remarked. CLI has expanded significantly, managing approximately US$4.5 billion in assets across 27 data centres globally.
The APAC region, noted for its burgeoning internet user base and rapid economic growth, presents a fertile ground for data centre investment. The report anticipates APAC will continue to lead globally, driven by lower current internet penetration rates and the growth potential of digital services and artificial intelligence.
