In an emailed response, Capitec reassured its customers, stating, "Importantly, we want to reassure our clients that their bank accounts and personal data remain secure and unaffected by this incident."

Rival institution Absa also acknowledged the global outage in a post on X, indicating that it too might experience impact on service quality.
