Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Minister for Communications and Development of the North Eastern Region, unveiled the theme of India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024, ‘The Future is Now’, on July 18, 2024. The theme underscores India's pivotal role in technological evolution and sets the stage for IMC 2024 to gather global leaders, visionaries, pioneers, and innovators to collaborate and shape the technologies transforming our world.
During the launch, Minister Scindia introduced the IMC 2024 application and website, a unique interactive platform for registration. With the inaugural registration and keynote address by Shri Scindia, the Indian Mobile Congress opened registrations for delegates, visitors, academia, government, and media.
In his keynote address, Minister Scindia stated, “Technology is best when it brings people together. There can be no better example than our country Bharat.” He emphasized the role of technology in bridging divides across India, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision. He highlighted how communications and networks can unify people from the remotest villages to central hubs.
Calling IMC a global melting pot, Minister Scindia expressed hope for India's continued central role in such events. He noted that the theme ‘The Future is Now’ signifies India's capabilities, achievements, and future possibilities. He highlighted the revolutionary changes in the telecom sector over the past decade, noting India's transition from a technology consumer to a supplier. He praised various telecom interventions, including The Telecom Act 2023, the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme, and the rapid 5G rollout. He also committed to notifying the rules of The Telecom Act 2023 within 180 days.
The Minister also launched the Testing Scheme for Start-ups & MSMEs and oversaw the signing of an MoU between NTIPRIT and IIT Jammu for capacity building in cybersecurity.
Dr. Neeraj Mittal, Chairman, DCC & Secretary (T), Department of Telecommunications (DoT), delivered a special address highlighting India's telecom prowess and success in the 5G revolution. Shri Abhijit Kishore, Chairman of the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), welcomed the gathering with his address.
The eighth edition of Asia’s premier digital technology exhibition, India Mobile Congress (IMC), co-hosted by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and COAI, will be held from October 15, 2024, at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
Concurrent to IMC 2024, India will host the prestigious international conferences - World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly New Delhi 2024 (WTSA 2024) and Global Standards Symposium (GSS 2024) from October 14-24, 2024, at the same venue.
