Maria Pagan, the U.S. ambassador to the World Trade Organization, voiced her hope on Thursday that China would be persuaded to drop a trade dispute aimed at safeguarding its interests in the electric vehicle sector.

Pagan remarked, 'We find it regrettable that China is taking this step, we hope that we can dissuade them from moving forward in the future,' in a conversation with reporters.

The dispute, which focuses on electric vehicle subsidies under the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act, is set to be formally discussed at a WTO meeting on Friday.
