Authorities suspect left-wing groups behind the attacks on rail lines and long-distance telecoms cables in multiple locations early Monday, which affected 11,000 telecoms customers.

"This operation was meticulously planned," said Romain Bonenfant, general director of the French Telecoms Federation. Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin added that the profile of the suspects suggests they are far-left militants, known for violent actions. Investigations will be overseen by the organized crime office and coordinated by the anti-terrorist sub-directorate.

French telecoms regulator Arcep reported that the incidents primarily impacted customers of SFR and Free, although rerouting minimized the damage. Train services, disrupted for 800,000 people, returned to normal after weekend repairs. Authorities are increasingly worried about the growing influence of far-left and anarchist groups, especially after President Macron's controversial pension reforms.
