Government Launches Portal for Smoother Business Visa Applications

The India Energy Storage Alliance praised the Indian government's initiative to create a portal facilitating business visas for foreign experts. The move aims to support companies under the PLI scheme and related industries, enhancing the ACC battery sector and reducing reliance on China.

The India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) has commended the government's recent decision to establish a dedicated portal that streamlines business visa applications for foreign experts hired by Indian companies participating in the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme and related industries.

According to an IESA statement, the facility will enable multiple-entry business visas for a period of six months for specialists in installation, maintenance, and various key functions. This will be available upon approval from the respective line ministry.

IESA President Debi Prasad Dash stated that the move will help in setting up over 100 GWh of ACC battery and components factories in India, potentially attracting $9 billion in investment and creating 50,000 jobs over the next five years. It will also reduce the country's dependency on imports from China.
