Apple Unveils AI-Powered iPhone 16 Amidst Rivalry with Huawei
Apple revealed its AI-enhanced iPhone 16, emphasizing the Apple Intelligence software and new A18 chip. The iPhone 16 ranges from $799 to $1,199, depending on the model. Apple also introduced new Watches and AirPods. The launch aims to counter Huawei's strong market presence, especially in China.
Apple on Monday unveiled its artificial intelligence-boosted iPhone 16, showcasing the device just hours after Chinese rival Huawei's tri-fold phone garnered significant pre-orders. 'The next generation of iPhone has been designed for Apple Intelligence from the ground up. It marks the beginning of an exciting new era,' Chief Executive Tim Cook said during the product launch.
Global tech companies, including Apple, are in a race to infuse AI into their products, with smartphones being a primary battleground. The new AI features aim to invigorate consumer interest and drive upgrades amidst slowing iPhone sales. Apple Intelligence, the company's AI software, promises to enhance Siri and introduce more advanced camera functionalities.
The new iPhone 16 series will start at $799, featuring the A18 chip and customizable options. Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 Pro versions, equipped with the A18 Pro chip and additional AI capabilities, start at $999. Accompanying the phone launch are the new Apple Watches and AirPods, adding to Apple's portfolio of AI-integrated devices.
