Taiwan is not looking to monopolize the semiconductor industry, according to Wu Cheng-wen, head of Taiwan's National Science and Technology Council. This statement follows U.S. President Donald Trump's critique of Taiwan's chip dominance.

Wu emphasized that Taiwan's success in the semiconductor sector is the result of fifty years of investment, pointing to the establishment of TSMC in 1987 as a key milestone. He assured that the global nature of the industry calls for specialization and cooperation rather than domination by a single nation.

Taiwan stands ready to collaborate with democratic allies in the semiconductor supply chain, underscoring the mutual benefits of a shared approach. The island aims to work as a pivotal partner, leveraging its expertise to strengthen international industrial strengths.
