Bybit, a cryptocurrency exchange, reported a security breach on Friday when an attacker compromised an ether wallet and siphoned off approximately $1.5 billion in cryptocurrency to an unknown address.

CEO Ben Zhou assured clients that the attack was isolated to the ether cold wallet, leaving other exchange wallets untouched, and withdrawals functioning as expected.

With a client base exceeding 60 million, Bybit remains financially solvent despite the loss. All client assets are fully backed, and forensic experts have joined the security team to investigate the incident.
