The Tata Group is making a massive financial commitment to Assam, with plans to invest Rs 25,000 crore in a new electronics manufacturing unit, said Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran. This move aims to bolster the state's economic growth and technological development significantly.
Chandrasekaran also announced collaborations with the Assam government in the green energy sector, focusing on solar rooftop installations and renewable energy generation. As part of their commitment, they plan to install solar rooftops in 3 lakh households and generate 5 GW of renewable energy over five to six years.
This investment, along with the group's recent Rs 27,000-crore semiconductor unit in Jagiroad, is expected to establish Assam as a major hub for technology and green energy. The project is predicted to create approximately 30,000 jobs, aiding in the region's economic development.
