Asia's Largest Hyperscale Data Centres to Transform Assam

The Indian government, led by Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, plans to establish four massive hyperscale data centres in Assam, the largest in Asia. An investment of Rs 400 crore will enhance Assam's telecom and IT infrastructure. The state is poised for significant growth and development.

Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced the Indian government's ambitious plan to set up four hyperscale data centres in Assam, aiming to make them the largest in Asia. This strategic move was revealed during a technical session at the Advantage Assam business summit.

Scindia highlighted that an investment of Rs 400 crore is being channeled into strengthening Assam's telecom and IT infrastructure. In the past year, the Northeast witnessed the inauguration of its first data centre by Prime Minister Modi, and now, with the advent of the 5G network, four more hyperscale centres are on the horizon, each spanning 1 million sq ft.

The minister emphasized the Centre's commitment to ensuring that the region partakes in India's developmental strides. Assam's potential as a manufacturing and logistics powerhouse was underscored, with plans in place to enhance its digital and telecom capabilities significantly.
