In an impressive turnaround, India's IT sector experienced a 16% hike in hiring throughout April, as revealed by a report from jobs platform foundit. Key factors propelling this growth include the increasing adoption of AI innovations, cloud modernisation efforts, and the expansion of Global Capability Centers (GCCs).
The 'foundit Insights Tracker (fit)' report highlights the major contribution of GCCs, which added over 110,000 new tech jobs in FY25, elevating the demand for roles in data engineering, DevOps, and enterprise architecture. Skill-based hiring initiatives dominated, with a strong focus on practical expertise in domains like AI/ML, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and data analytics.
Significant growth was reported in cities such as Coimbatore, Ahmedabad, and Baroda, attributed to hybrid work models and cost-saving benefits. Meanwhile, metro areas like Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi NCR remained leaders in attracting candidates for leadership and specialist positions.
