The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati is spearheading a significant initiative to establish 'Manekshaw Centres for Defence and Security Research' across the country. A high-level delegation, led by Professor Devendra Jalihal, Director of IIT Guwahati, recently briefed Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on the center's establishment in prestigious institutions. Professor Jalihal, also the chief patron of the Manekshaw Centre of Excellence, emphasized the center's role as a crucial interface between academia and defense forces.

The delegation, including prominent figures like Professor Manindra Agrawal and Lt Gen Subrata Saha (Retd), highlighted the importance of inter-institutional collaboration. Minister Pradhan expressed support for the initiative, underscoring the ministry's commitment to fostering an innovative ecosystem addressing national security challenges.
