In a recent address at the East Tech symposium in Ranchi, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan underscored the importance of policy initiatives aimed at developing equipment for space and cyber warfare. He emphasized the need for strategic weapon selection and the critical review of research and development to align with current technological demands.
General Chauhan pointed out the urgency of expanding India's defence manufacturing base, advocating for the exploration of artificial intelligence and contemporary technologies. While the indigenisation of defence manufacturing in India may have begun late, he assured that the country is making significant progress in the right direction.
Highlighting the Centre's Act East policy, General Chauhan called for active contributions from states such as Jharkhand and West Bengal towards achieving self-reliance in defence. He emphasized that warfare in the modern era is both a science and an art, requiring creativity and innovation from its warriors.
