Uber is gearing up to streamline transportation for the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics, set for next year. Announced on Tuesday, the ride-hailing giant will collaborate with 5,000 local drivers, aiming to help visitors navigate a sprawling event area in northern Italy.

With dedicated pick-up and drop-off zones at each venue, coupled with real-time mapping and detailed in-app directions, Uber seeks to reduce congestion and minimize wait times for passengers. Nevio Devide, Chief Revenue Officer of Milano-Cortina 2026, emphasized the importance of diverse transportation options to manage the anticipated influx of visitors.

The Winter Olympics, occurring from February 6-22, along with the Paralympics from March 6-15, places Milan's opening ceremonies 400 kilometers from co-host site Cortina d'Ampezzo. Since September, the organizers have secured 450 million euros in local sponsorships, aiming for a 550-million-euro target.
