Karnataka's Chief Minister Siddaramaiah debuted KEO, an AI-ready, compact personal computer tabled at Rs 18,999 during the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2025. This innovative device is designed to bridge Karnataka's digital divide by making intelligent computing accessible at the grassroots level.

Developed by the Department of Electronics, IT & BT along with KEONICS, KEO (Knowledge-driven, Economical, Open-source) aims to empower citizens across Karnataka. Information Technology Minister Priyank Kharge highlighted its affordability despite geopolitical hurdles affecting component costs, particularly concerning rare earth materials.

The device, featuring open-source technology, comes loaded with programming and productivity tools, supporting on-device AI computation without internet access. Its launch is seen as a step to improve the state's digital literacy, with influential figures like Kris Gopalakrishnan and Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw backing it for educational sponsorships.
