China's exports of rare earth magnets to Japan fell by 8% in December from November, before Beijing announced a ban on exports of dual-use items that could be used for military purposes in reaction to Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's Taiwan remarks.
Outbound shipments from the world's largest producer of rare earth magnets to Japan was at 280 metric tons last month, down from 305 tons the month before, data from the General Administration of Customs showed on Tuesday.
