Boosting National Defense with Academia-Industry Collaboration

Dr. Samir V Kamat, Chairman, DRDO, visited SRM University-AP to discuss strengthening the collaboration between academia and industry for national defense technology and research. The visit emphasized rapid development of new technologies through collaborative ecosystems with ongoing research initiatives in AI, Quantum Technologies, and Green Hydrogen.

Dr. Samir V Kamat, head of the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), visited SRM University-AP to explore collaborative opportunities between educational institutions and national defense technology sectors. Welcomed by Prof. D Narayana Rao, the visit highlighted the need for a robust synergy between academia, startups, and industries.

Dr. Kamat underscored the importance of rapid technology development, stressing that a collaborative ecosystem can bring new technologies from conception to deployment within three to five years. He praised SRM University's multidisciplinary research initiatives, particularly those in AI, Quantum Technologies, and Green Hydrogen.

Research projects on Accelerated Materials Development, Quantum Navigation Systems, and sensors for extreme conditions were lauded by Dr. Kamat. The discussions ended with a push for closer collaborations with DRDO labs to propel India's leadership in defense innovations.
