Jammu & Kashmir Pioneers Tech Future with Cutting-Edge IT Parks
The Jammu and Kashmir government is launching innovative IT Parks starting at IIT Jammu, aiming to bolster the region's technology ecosystem, create jobs, and foster industry-academia collaboration. Phase-I will upgrade existing spaces by mid-2026, while future phases plan further expansions, positioning the region as a tech innovation hub.

In a strategic move to propel technological advancement, the Jammu and Kashmir government has outlined plans to establish state-of-the-art IT Parks throughout the Union Territory. Initiating at the IIT Jammu campus, this blueprint aims to foster innovation and research while augmenting employment opportunities significantly.
This forthcoming venture, backed by the IIT Jammu Board of Governors' approval of the Detailed Project Report on January 5, 2026, received in-principle approval from the J&K government. A phased execution approach has been detailed, with the first phase set to revamp 50,000 sq ft at the existing IIT Jammu infrastructure starting mid-2026, targeting further expansion by 2028.
Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo emphasized the critical role of technology in shaping the future economy. The project aims to attract technology companies and boost the startup ecosystem, strategically positioning Jammu and Kashmir as a burgeoning innovation and digital hub. Collaborative efforts with IIT Jammu are underway to ensure the project's seamless implementation.
