Bursting onto the scene as a major cyber threat, ransomware has significantly impacted Indian businesses in 2025. A report by Check Point Software Technologies reveals that a staggering 65% of the afflicted were forced to pay ransoms, averaging over Rs 12 crore per instance.
India has emerged as the Asia-Pacific hotspot for these attacks, mirroring a broader global trend that has witnessed a 56% surge in manufacturer-targeted incidents in just one year. The Manufacturing Threat Landscape 2025 report highlights the toll on Indian firms amid the ever-evolving industrial digitisation landscape.
Worldwide, the U.S. and Europe's industries, including automotive and aerospace, continue to face similar threats, exacerbating downstream disruptions. India’s strategic position and rapid digitisation leave it highly susceptible, with 201 attacks reported, underscoring the escalating scale of these cybersecurity challenges.
